Profile
Shoan is a Sogetsu Ikebana teacher with a Second Grade Sanyo and a background in architecture, which enriches her approach to ikebana. Since 2005, she has studied under Shoso Shimbo and now conducts regular classes in the Sogetsu style. Passionate about promoting ikebana, she helped establish the online Ikebana Gallery Award and has exhibited widely. Her work has received numerous accolades, most recently winning first place at the Natio Botanical Moments of the Melbourne International Flower and Garden Show 2025. Previously, her ikebana mask won first prize in the Mask Making Challenge at the 2020 Royal Melbourne Show . Shoan is the Associate Director of the Ikebana Gallery Award Committee, a facilitator of Ikebana Dojo , and secretary of the International Society of Ikebana Research. She also explores ikebana's role in mindfulness for seniors, with research details available on the Wa Melbourne Ikebana Festival website. |
