Ikebana Introductory Class
🌿 Experience Ikebana — A 1-Hour Introduction
Curious about ikebana? Come and experience it for yourself.
Discover the beauty of ikebana in this relaxed, hands-on one-hour introduction. You’ll learn some of the fundamental ideas behind ikebana and explore how flowers, branches, space and form come together to create a beautiful arrangement.
No previous experience is needed. All materials and tools are provided, and you’ll create your own ikebana arrangement to take home.
Your first step into the world of ikebana
This experience is also a great introduction to the Sogetsu school of ikebana and provides guidance on how you can continue your ikebana journey. After the workshop, you are welcome to join our weekly Sogetsu Certificate Textbook Class and continue developing your skills.
$75 per person
Includes all materials — flowers, container — plus secateur hire.

Held on Fridays when the Sogetsu Textbook Class is running.

We are providing this class option with Shoso Shimbo so that you can have a choice or location and time. If you want to have the introductory class with Shoso Shimbo at Murrumbeena. The two locations runs the classes on different dates
Weekly Sogetsu Textbook Curriculum Class at CanterburyRegular classes run weekly during school terms. Attending regular classes allow you to follow the Sogetsu curriculum through the text books. There is no need to rush through the topics, everyone works in their own pace. You will need to bring your own materials and containers. *** (Read Terms and conditions). Students can earn the Sogetsu Certificate.
Cost: $30 per person per class (Fees do not include materials eg. flowers, kenzan, containers, etc.). $25 if prepaid at least 48hrs before class and non refundable if not notified 48hrs before class
Tools and Materials: Each student is required to bring their own materials and containers to use. Textbook: can be purchase in class. About Zoom Ikebana Dojo
Join an online learning community using Zoom. Roughly based on the cooperative learning method, this project is to support your ikebana study, in particular, if you are studying alone. This is ideal for many people who are working in isolation. Meet ikebana friends around the world. Goal: Learn how to create “poetry” in Ikebana. What is poetry in Ikebana? It is the life of ikebana. It is the essence of ikebana. It can be achieved only when humans and nature interact harmoniously. |

2. Please make bookings prior 11am Thursday for the Friday classes.
3. All fees for Classes to be paid prior to class unless you are senior card holders. Bank transfer or via booking. Workshop fees might be paid in advance depending on the event. Refer to the details of event.
4. Bookings made online must be paid via the booking system.
5. For weekly classes participants are to bring their own supplies of materials, use their own tools and containers. Tools and containers may be on loan/ provided according to the terms in workshops and special events.
5. Photos of participants works are taken after class for Shoan’s record. Some might be put on the internet with random order and random time. Not all photos taken will be posted. If you do not want your works posted, please advise us in advance.
1. Booking Cancellation & Rescheduling Policy For Ikebana Introductory Class
Cancellation Fee and Transfer
- More than 2 working days’ notice: Your booking may be transferred to another available session or converted to a credit for future use.
- Within 48 hours of the workshop: A 50% cancellation fee applies.
- Within 24 hours of the workshop or in the event of a no-show: 100% of the booking fee applies.
Rescheduling
- Workshop bookings may only be rescheduled when more than 48 hours’ notice is provided.
- A rescheduled session must be taken within 3 months of the original booking date, or at the next available session, whichever is applicable.
- If you do not reschedule your booking within this period, the booking will be considered cancelled, and a new payment will be required to book a future workshop.
